Severe Torture in Daqing Labor Camp
Print  E-mail

Around December 2001, at Daqing Labor Camp in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, the camp guards brutally tortured Falun Gong practitioners to force them to give up their belief.

Mr. Zhuang Gangxiang and Mr. Cao Jingdong were severely beaten. During the torture, Mr. Cao lost consciousness once; Mr. Zhuang lost consciousness twice, and one of his teeth was knocked out. Due to the long-term torture, both of them often suffered from heart problems and cramps.

The practitioners who went on hunger strikes also suffered from the torture of tying the ropes. The camp guard force-fed them with semi-cooked cornstarch mixed with highly concentrated salt water. This mixture can cause diarrhea within half an hour after the feeding and results in serious gastrointestinal disorders. The diarrhea can last from six months to one year. Consequently, Mr. Ge Zhenmin suffered serious intestinal inflammation. Mr. Zuo Guoqing was tortured and force-fed concentrated salt water, which caused serious accumulation of fluid in his lung.

Mr. Du Guocong was locked n a small cell and cruelly tortured for more than 20 days. As a result, he had wounds all over his body, and he was unable to straighten his back. Moreover, Mr. Du was forced to perform heavy labor under the close supervision of criminal inmates.

Mr. Sui Honghai, whose upper arm was broken from being “Tying the Ropes”[1] .

On December 23, 2002, Mr. He Huajiang was transferred to the Daqing Labor Camp. He was brutally tortured to death at around midnight the same day.

At the First Team, the team leader, Wang Yingzhou, instigated criminal inmates to torture Falun Gong practitioners. In winter, they poured cold water on practitioners hundreds of times and blew cold air on them with electric fans. They force-fed practitioners with feces. To avoid wounds appearing on the skin, they padded practitioners' chests with cotton pads and pounded on the padded areas with a rubber hammer, causing severe internal injuries. At the Second Team, the camp guards tie practitioners' hands and feet to a “Tiger Bench”[2] and forced practitioners to sit on a chair with a metal tube placed under their upper legs. This torture forced practitioners to put all their upper body weight onto their tailbones, which caused a lot of pain over time.

[1] “Tying the Ropes” is a brutal torture method. The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police 1 use all the force they can muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.

[2] “Tiger Bench” : A victim is tied on a narrow wooden or iron bench by the thighs and knees, with hands

tied behind the back. Increasing number of boards or bricks inserted under his feet creates excruciating

pain. The police often use this device to immobilize Falun Gong practitioners to force-feed them.
