Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Beijing Women’s Labor Camp

Beijing Women’s Labor Camp is the former Xin’an Women’s Labor Camp. Falun Gong practitioners detained there were brutally tortured. They were not allowed to sleep, and forced to stand for a long time and to work until the midnight.


Ms. Zhang Yijie, female, 49, is a former employee of the Department of Foreign Economy and Commerce. In July 2001, she was sent to the third group of the labor camp. From then on, Ms. Zhang has been badly tortured and beaten. As a result, her head and chest were both wounded and her legs became so swollen that she had trouble to walk. She was locked in an isolated dark room for more than one month. Ms. Zhang was not allowed to sleep and forced to run. Because she refused to give up Falun Gong, her term was extended by 10 months.


Ms. Zhang Liqian, female, 32, single, was detained at the third group of the labor camp in April 2002. She was not allowed to sleep or use the restroom. Policeman Jiao Xuexian also instigated other inmates to curse at and beat her. Policewoman Huo Xuiyun also instigated inmate Huang Ping to sexually abuse Ms. Zhang.


Ms. Lang Dongyue, female, around 40, was detained in an isolated cell without any sunlight. She was beaten and forced to stand for a very long time without making any movement. She was also not allowed to sleep or use the restroom.


Ms. Li Yunying, female, 45, was detained in an isolated cell and not allowed to sleep. She was also forced to do heavy labor day and night without a break.


Ms. Li Hong, female, in her 30s, from Hubei Province. Police instigated inmates beat her. They covered her head in a quilt and punched her chest heavily. They also whipped her private parts with a fly bat, causing the area to swell.


Ms. Jin Huijuan, female, around 30. She went on a hunger strike for more than 80 days before being transferred to the labor camp. The police still forced her to stand for a long time and not sleep even though she was extremely weak. She was also beaten often.


Ms. Shao Yan, female, 35, is the former head of the Department of Economy, Beijing

Agricultural University. She became very sick because of the long-term persecution, but the police still forced her to stand for a long time and did not allow her to sleep.


Ms. Zhang Xiuying, female, around 40, was badly beaten by inmates Zhang Cuifen, Zhang Su, and Yan Yuqing. She was also not allowed to sleep and forced to stand for a long time.
