Print  E-mail

Mr. Wu Zhijun was a biology professor at Zhongshan University in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Since July 1999, the university and local police station pressured him many times trying to force him give up his belief in Falun Gong. To avoid further harassment, he left the university in 2000 and wandered about. In December 2001, he and his mother Ms. Wu Yuxian, were arrested in Wuzhou City, Guangxi Province. Mr. Wu was sentenced to 8 years in prison and is now jailed at the Guilin Prison, in Guangxi Province. His mother is an over 60-year-old retired nurse of the Tumor Hospital, affiliated with Zhongshan University. She was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor education. Professor Wu's brother and sister-in-law have also been sentenced to forced labor education and they are now being detained at the Huadu Labor Camp and the Chatou Women's Labor Camp in Guangzhou City, respectively.
