An Undergraduate Student Tortured and Brainwashed
Print  E-mail

Ms. Wen Yan, female, 25, previously was an undergraduate student at Hefei Industry University in Anhui Province. She was illegally expelled from the school three years ago because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. She has been detained and tortured by the police. On October 30, 2002, at the gate of the university, two plainclothes policemen arrested Ms. Wen and brought her to the Hongxing Hotel. They did not show any legal documents, but beat her so badly that her vision became blurred and distorted. They kept Ms. Wen handcuffed to a chair twenty-four hours a day, even when she had her menstrual period. The police rotated to interrogate and torture her. After Ms. Wen went on a hunger strike to protest the vicious torture, the police used a tube to viciously pump some mixture into her stomach. Ten days later, they left the tube in her stomach without taking it out. Another time, the police handcuffed her hands behind her back to the chair, in a position where she was forced to have her whole body bend backward. Ms. Wen couldn't move, and the handcuffs cut into her hands so badly that, the next day, the swelling was quite serious. The police placed a tube through one of her nostrils into her stomach, and covered the other nostril with tape, forcing it to remain closed. Ms. Wen could only breathe through her mouth and continuously felt nauseous. Even so, the policeman continued to interrogate her, and struck her forehead with his hand. They later gave Ms. Wen brainwashing sessions without a moment's break for the whole period of time. Under continual pressure, threatening, and mental torture, her will slowly broke down, so she wrote a "guarantee" letter. It was not her true intention. She had been handcuffed to a chair, deprived of sleep, brainwashed, tortured, and pressured continuously for seventy days and nights.
