At around 4 p.m. he was sent to the Daqing City People's Hospital for emergency care, where he was found to have dilated eyes; he was in a deep coma and his electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) showed severe arrhythmia. Mr. Lu's legs were swollen and had two blisters measuring about half an inch square on the right coax joint and another about three-fourths of an inch square, and there was a cut on the sole of one foot. Mr. Lu died on October 21, 2003 around 1 p.m. in the hospital.
