A Brief Description:

Mr. Hu Zhiming has a Master’s degree and was a military employee of the Beijing Air Force Research Laboratory of Training Equipment before the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999. In March 2000 in accordance with the ongoing National People’s Congress Session and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, all Air Force units put Falun Gong practitioners under house arrest. The security personnel arrested Mr. Hu at Wenquanhuayuan in the Changping District in Beijing City.

During his detention, he was not allowed to go out, nor could he even brush his teeth or take a bath. About one month later, Mr. Hu was escorted back to Liaoning Province where he received a “general discharge,” and was dismissed from the military. At the end of May 2000, he went back to Beijing and tried to find a job there. After he left, the local police kept harassing his family in Liaoning Province.

In September 2000, he was arrested in Shanghai. At that time, his family members did not know where to find him. Approximately 3 months later, the Shanghai detention center sent a notice to Mr. Hu’s parents informing them that he had been detained and sentenced to four years in jail for practicing Falun Gong. There was no formal trial or any legal procedure.

In October 2004, Mr. Hu was released from the Shanghai Tilanqiao Jail. After his release, he resumed his practice of Falun Gong and has been in touched with his brother Mr. Hu Zhihua who lives in United States. However, In October 2005, Mr. Hu could not be contacted anymore and disappeared in Beijing. Mr. Hu’s family has been notified by the local police that Mr. Hu Zhiming was again in trouble. However, they refused to disclose where he was.

Steps taken to find Mr. Hu Zhiming:

Mr. Hu’s brothers and parents have tried everything can think of to located him, including: contacting the local and the Beijing police station for information about his whereabouts. Several months have passed, yet no one knows where he is. His family believes he is still in Beijing, but the authorities refuse to tell them.

Mr. Hu Zhiming’s brother, Mr. Hu Zhihua would like to appeal to the United Nations to locate his brother. Mr. Hu Zhihua can be contacted at:
