Description:

Before Mr. Pang Shijun practicing Falun Gong, he was a grain trader, once Mr. Pang mixed sand in with the grain to gain profit. Police arrested him and sentenced him to prison. While in Gongzhuling Prison, he learned about Falun Gong from a practitioner who was detained there, then he began practicing it while in jail.

Once the guards learned that he practiced Falun Gong, they demanded that he stop. When he refused to renounce Falun Gong, they subjected him to inhuman torture to get him to stop. He still refused, so they transferred him to Siping Prison in Jilin Province, where they confined him in small cell. He spent 13 months in solitary confinement with no sunlight and no bedding. .

On June 11, 2009, guards called his family, said he was dying, and asked that he be bailed out on medical parole. On June 13, 2009, Mr. Pang died in the prison hospital. He was barefooted, and his body was very pale due to being locked in a small cell for such a long time. His body was cremated at 9:00 a.m. on June 18, 2009.
