Ms. Kong Qian, female, a Falun Gong practitioner from Weibei City, Shandong Province.

Description:

On July 9, 2008, police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Kong Qian and her mother Ms. Li at Weifang City, Shandong Province. A day later, Ms. Kong was taken to the Weifang Detention Center. She resisted with a hunger strike and tortured. She was not allowed to sleep and was force-fed and beaten until she went into convulsions. Her arms and legs were shackled to a cross for seven days and nights.

In October 2008, she was transferred to the Changle Detention Center. She refused to work as if she were a slave and went on a hunger strike. Long-term torture made Ms. Kong Qian's health deteriorated, she was once taken to a first aid hospital, but officials did not allow her family members or her attorney to visit her. At the end of March 2009, she was taken to Weifang Detention Center. After she was tortured to the verge of death, her case was then transferred from the Hanting District Procuratorate to the Court.

Her relatives went to Weifang National Security Team many times to ask for her release, but all their requests were turned down. They were also not allowed to visit her.

Ms. Kong was illegally sentenced 9 years in prison on October 18, 2009.
