On February 12, 2002, Mr. Jiang Honglu was arrested for his practice of Falun Gong. During the arrest, Meng Qingqi, Director of the Politics and Security Office of the Mishan City Police Department fired several gunshots at him. He was severely injured from the shooting. They also beat Mr. Jiang badly. As a result, his face was distorted and his eyes bled.
On October 23, 2002, despite his condition, Mr. Jiang was sentenced to 14 years in prison. In the court, because he refused to “confess” that policeman Meng Qingqi, policeman Liu Xiaohu beat him severely. He was first detained in the Jixi Prison and then in July 2003, he was transferred to the Mudanjiang Prison.
On January 20, 2005, Wang Wei, the head of Ward Three, detained Mr. Jiang in an isolated cell, which was only 3-4 square meters in size. Mr. Jiang’s hands and feet were cuffed and locked to an iron ring on the floor of the cell. He could only sit with his back bent. He was unable to stand or lay down to sleep. After about one month’s torture in the cell, he became very thin.
Latest information from the jail tells us that Mr. Jiang is in very weak condition, suffers from severe malnutrition, is emaciated, and has difficulty speaking clearly. His mouth is disfigured, his arms tremble constantly, and his reflexes are slow. He was diagnosed with multiple cerebral infarctions, and suffers from high blood pressure. Mr. Jiang's life is in great danger.
