Statue made by Mr. Wang Deqian, "Eight Immortals" Mr. Wang Deqian's Home Ransacked by Police

Victim:

Mr. Wang Deqian, 53, worked for the Linqingsi Middle School, Laishui County, Hebei Province. He is a sculptor and artist well known in the area.

Description:

At around 5:00 p.m. on March 12, 2008, the police from the Yi County Department and Longmen Township Station in Laishui County ransacked Mr. Wang Deqian’s home and arrested him because he practice Falun Gong. Mr. Wang is detained at the Yi County Detention Center. Currently, Mr. Wang is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Mr. Wang's wife is a teacher at a nursery school. She was threatened by Party officials from Longmen Township. They said, "If you do not cooperate, your own salary will be withheld and you will be in danger of loosing your job."

The family’s request to visit Mr. Wang was denied by the detention center. To threaten the family, on April 11, 2008 the police of detention center even detained the daughter Ms. Wang Shaolin and extorted 1,400 Yuan from the family to bail her out.

Previous Persecution:

In 2002, Laishui County “610 Office” arrested Mr. Wang and imprisoned him in Baoding Forced Labor Camp, where Mr. Wang was severely tortured to such an extent that he could not take care himself for daily life. In November 2003, guard Li Dayong tied him on a bed for seven consecutive days without any heating facility. This caused Mr. Wang's muscles to atrophy and he had difficulty to walk.

On May 10, 2004, Mr. Wang was locked into a solitary cell. He was tied up on a wood board bed. On June 10, guard Liu Lijie used a high-voltage electric baton and shocked Mr. Wang’s genitals. Mr. Wang screamed in pain.

Mr. Wang was released after his term was finished. On July 24, 2007, deputy chef Zhao Tao, policemen Zhang Jianlong and Zhang Aijun of Longmen Town Police Station ransacked Mr. Wang’s house, taking away some of his property. On September 8, Mr. Wang was arrested and detained at Laishui County Detention Center. He was tortured till he lost the ability to take care himself. 48 days later he was released.

Around 5 p.m. on March 12, 2008, the police from Yi County Police Department and Longmen Town Police Station arrested Mr. Wang again and ransacked his house. Mr. Wang is now being detained at Yi County Detention Center.
